Robert McGinnis:

Robert McGinnis was a illustrator around the time b movies and lobby cards were filmed and created. He created a great amount of designs throughout this era of time from a range of movie art to even comedy, a produced in the early 60′s a wide range of even more designs.

This is an example of a piece of his work that he formed. This is a very artistic in-depth piece of work for the target market audience. There is not only illustration used to help convey this but the use of the simple form of typography used to make this appealing and attractive. the images used within this has a very dramatic form of manner and a great deal of contrasting color is used but not with a retro effect used on most b movie lobby cards formed at that era of time but very bold and graphical effects used to make this stand out for the target market audience. I think by using this very graphical dramatic form of elements helps convey the genre and sums up what the film is nicely through the use of the many elements used within this. also the b movie poster (on the left) contains a great amount of washed out colors with a simple form of typography used within this unlike Robert McGinnis work. also the colors used in Robert McGinnis piece if art work contains bold dramatic colors within the illustration conveying a sense of horror and mystery whereas the movie poster (on the right) contains a lack of lines mainly thin and washed out with the illustration itself therefore making this less appealing for the target market audience. With the use of the bold simple block black color used within the background of this poster makes the main illustration grand out effectively giving a sense of secretary to the target market audience.

Reynold Brown

Reynold Brown was also a illustrator round this era of time when b movie’s and posters were formed and created. He produced a great amount between 250 and 275 of movie posters in the era of 1951 and 1970. He is also very well known for this great amount of work. He also did many other works of art such as magazine illustrations as well as fine art pieces for gallery’s on the market.

In this poster created by Reynold Brown it contains a great amount of typography used dramatically within typography to help convey the movie itself. The 3d typographic type face used makes this not only appealing for the target market audience but very bold and dramatic conveying the genre of the movie through the use of the graphic elements contained within this piece of artwork formed. The use of the retro background makes this type face stand out in a great deal of manner making it easy for the target market audience disquinguish the film. I think although this typographic work is very effective more imagery and illustration could be used within this design to help advertise the film a great deal more. A variety of clips that are very dramatic could be used throughout this poster to make this more appealing. the bold lines used within this type face makes this stand out a great deal although the lettering used underneath the main title body is washed out from the main background making this very difficult to see from a great distance for the target market audience. In the lobby card on the right of the screen this contains a great amount of old style typography use in a simple form of text font. This furthermore contains a great amount of washed out color through this making is convey a retro feel to the design for the target market audience. The graphical elements within the imagery of this design also have a washed out form of style containing a lack of lines within the animation therefore making this not stand out a great deal of amount for the target market audience.
